possible that we are living in some type of dream world or simulated continuation. Even if we are not in a dream world I do believe we are in some form of a simulated reality. Jean Baudrillard speaks about the concept of a hyperreality in his book Simulacra and Simulation where “It is no longer a question of a false representation of reality (ideology) but of concealing the fact that the real is no longer real”(4). Especially in the modern world where we are inundated with technology and besieged by computers. There was recently a survey done that showed in Russia around 45% of their political Twitter accounts were actually bots programmed to create an “illusion of large-scale consensus” (Lee 1). Everything that surrounds us from politics to even just trying to find a place to eat is a twisted reality built by others to shape the way people live and interact with life.

The concept of a simulated reality is far from science fiction considering the influences of technology today but even beyond that, there is a blurred line between our waking moments and dreams. Because of our skewed perceptions, we can’t even trust our brains to show us what is truly our reality.
