is trying to obtain a baby changeling whom his wife Titania will not give. Oberon wants to pull a prank on Titania after he gets the Magical flower. “Having once this juice,/ ill watch Titania, when she is asleep,/ and drop the liquor of it in her eyes./ The next thing then she, waking, looks upon,/ be it lion, bear, or wolf, or bull,/ On meddling monkey, or on busy ape,/ she shall pursue it, with the soul of love” ( 2.2.180-186).
Oberon is willing to do anything to get the baby so he will put the flower on her eyelids. The magic of the dream world alters reality because Titania can fall in love with any creature and, Oberon is being vengeful for not getting the changeling. Oberon being deceiving and vengeful he makes Titania fall in love with bottom who has a head of an ass, but he uses the flower again to regain Titania’s love. Puck being Oberon’s servant is the one who turned bottom into an ass. “when I did him at this advantage take./ an ass’s nole I fixed on his head” (Act 3 Scene 2 lines 16-17). Puck being the trickster he turns bottom into an ass and reports this to Oberon. For Oberon’s loyalty puck is using the Magic in the dream world to change what happens in reality. Had puck not turned bottom into an ass Titania would not have fallen in love with him. So reality was altered by the use of magic in puck and Oberon in the dream world.
In conclusion, Shakespearian play called A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream, a character named Oberon demonstrates how dreams can alter reality, his character is shown to be observant, obsessed, and vengeful. This clearly shows how magic can make impossible things realistic and dreams can become reality.
