When it comes to the visuals for presenting the use of photos, charts, diagrams and clipart are utilized to raise important points of the presentation. It also reinforces the oral presentation and relief the audience from the text content of the presentation. In addition to the use of visuals, handouts are essential to help audience follow and understand the key points. (W. Russell, 2014), (L. F. Jacobs and J. S. Hyman, 2010). Don’t use too many of visuals that it begins to distract audience from the purpose of the presentation. (W. Russell, 2014). Another cause of distraction to an audience by a presenter is standing in the front of the screen. This action will cause the audience to become impatient and frustrated at the presenter and the presentation because the content will be cover over the presenter making weird shapes and the reflection from the bright light would make it hard to stare and pay attention until the presenter moves from in front the screen. (C. Newbold, 2013).

Challenges

Mainly a Learning experience, where we learnt how to use multimedia equipment learning about using a projector together with a laptop, presentation mouse and laser pointer. We also learned how to conduct research as a group working as a team, agreeing on the objectives, each member taking responsibility to complete their task, meeting together and discussing the information gathered and putting the presentation material together and time management. Research and development of information was done, critically analyzing the topic to structure the subject material in a logical flow in order to create the presentation. However there was different personalities and sometimes clashed because difference of opinions but in the end we came together as a team and get the job done.

Conclusion

So from this report we would like to conclude that the characteristic of an effective presentation should entail, that you present to the audience and don’t directly read from slides, emphasize on key points and practice your presentation. In addition to this, focus on the subject and don’t stray away from the topic, also don’t overload the slides with too much text content and too many slides. Furthermore be logical and clear about the information which is being presented when conducting a presentation. Make sure the main key points are discussed thoroughly. Likewise when structuring a presentation, the font, design and background should be simple and standard design, also when using animation, use enough to emphasize the key points of the topic. When presenting for a presentation engage in your audience and project your voice accordingly also make eye contact with everyone present in the room. Be focused when presenting and attire yourself in a professional manner.

Recommendation

Our recommendation to creating an effective presentation are, when presenting don’t read from slides, know and understand the material that is being presented. Also don’t stray off topic and overcrowd slides with too much text material. However time management should use effectively and efficiently. Limit the use animation to lower the distraction of the audience. In addition to presenting appear to be relaxed and focus on the material which is being presented, and also attire must be professional. Enclosing make sure and practice the presentation beforehand.
