As in other countries, the condition, status, and position of indigenous women are determined by social, political, economic and cultural patterns that reproduce inequalities, inequities, and hierarchies that are the product of a historical process that Results in a systematic disadvantage for women. In the case of Ecuador, the phenomena of ethnic discrimination and territorial exclusion are combined with gender discrimination.
