during her valedictory address when she voiced her opinion of how wrong and uncivil it was for women to be given dainty tasks based off the assumption of stereotypical standards (Document J). She believed that the role of women should be expanded beyond the house because women can do much more than clean (Document A). Aside from women, Slavery was beginning to make a turn-around. The Pennsylvania Packet in 1779 bashed the idea of slavery and told anyone who supports it to go back to Britain because America is the land of the free (Document B). The other group who was taken advantage of was all of the natives that lived there prior to Columbus sailing the ocean blue. Prior to the Revolution, many tribes were murdered in mass for their land such as the Mystic Massacre. After many attempts to create a resolution, the 6th Article was finally brought up in 1787 stating all slavery and indentured servitude must be abolished; however “such fugitive may be lawfully reclaimed.” (Document H) Almost ten years of bickering later, the Chickasaw Chief sent a message to Congress requesting peace and friendship forever (Document C), but unfortunately not much was changed. Three years after, the United Indian Nations spoke on how disappointed they were in the lack of peace given to the Indians (Document I).

Overall, the American Revolution was a major marker event that shaped our country’s history. Our government has now gained much more power and organization, lower class laborers are respected and paid decently well, and women and African Americans have been given more equal standards. Without the fight for independence, our country might have remained under the control of Britain today and who knows what life would be like now.
