To continue , Meyer delineates many problems which occurred continuously to Steve. Starting on the first day of the month in June, Steve tried to impress his dad with his new project which he made for the scout show, but the projector bulb exploded. Later on, Steve rode a bicycle and fell off the bike. He injured himself and damaged the bike. Also, Aunt Beth hired Steve to mow her lawn, so she picked him up after school, but that day she took off without him and left him hanging, so he had to walk home by himself. After that, Steve told his dad about his hurt hand, but his father did not enough care about to aid Steve. Steve also told his father that he did not like playing ball, but his father still forced him to go to practice. Steve walked out the back of the house alone, brought the rope along with him as tears came rolling down his eyes and face. Unfortunately He then hung himself on a tree with his baseball gloves laying next to him.

In conclusion, Meyer restates that teenagers who have committed suicide do so because they could not express their feeling to anyone else that might have been able to understand them a bit more. Steve’s case is one of the examples to help readers understand why young people commit suicide. The author insists the importance of the roles provided by parents, teachers, and coaches, and the affects they have on young people's behaviors.
