invited to every party, the popular crowd seems very exclusive. People of the lower social group looks at these popular kids and criticise them, looking at them from a lower light due to their resentment towards them. They wish people would see them for who they are, just kids like any other who are undeservingly put on a pedestal. They aren’t judged by their knowledge, they are mainly judged on a physical scale which seems unfair to people who do not look and act the part. As the film progresses, Jeanie meets a guy at the police station who fits the description of how Ferris would act. Slowly, Jeanie warms up to him after he talks to her. Loosening up, Jeanie leaves head over heels for the guy and this seems to be the turning point of her character. After that, she goes home where she lets Ferris get away with his scheme when she was so close to showing him for what he really did that day. To relate this to filmmakers of the era, Jeanie’s eased up off of Ferris because she gets to be part of the group. If this theory is accurate, the filmmaker wants him or herself to become part of the popular crowd, by that time, they will forget about all their resentment because they get to a part of the group. Their development of her character may reflect the filmmakers desire to fit in and be one of the popular kids. And when they become one, the completely ease off their cases and ultimately become identical to the person they have deemed as irrelevant.
