The Effects of Doing Two Works in one Time Among Government and Private Sector Workers

- Scope and Limitations of the Study

This study involved participation of 50 of government and private sector workers which the respondents who were between ages of 20 - 41 above years old.

In May 2017, a total of 50 questionnaire were distributed to the servants at Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Felcra Niaga Sdn Bhd and government sector. Based on distributed questionnaire in randomly obtained 36 were female servants while the rest (14) were male. The questionnaire were distributed at various unit on government and private office such as administration, operation, finance and others. The time required while completing the questions for respondent in the estimated 5 to 10 minutes and we managed to finish surveys within 3 days.

- Method of Investigation

The information for this report was obtained through a survey in which 50 questionnaires were distributed to government and private sector workers in the Klang Valley. A set of questionnaire containing 15 questions. The different question types such as demographic background, multiple choice questions and close-ended questions were used in the questionnaire.

- Analysis of Data

Data obtained from the questionnaire were collated and analysed. Frequency counts and percentages of the data were computed.

A discussion of the findings of the study is presented in the next section.

FINDINGS

This chapter discusses the findings of this survey. The findings are presented in a form of bar graphs and pie charts, followed by the written report. The data analysis is divided into 3 types which are demographic background, multiple choice questions and close-ended questions.

- Respondents’ Age Range

Figure 2.1 shows the respondents’ age ranges with the highest amount of respondents which is 40% (20) respondents were in the 21 - 30 years range. The lowest amount of respondent with the amount of 2% (1) respondent was in the range of above 20 years. Besides, the respondents’ age range 40 above have slightly differs with the above 20 years range with the amount of 14% (7) respondents. It also found that 44% (22) respondent were between 31 – 40 years range.

- Respondents’ Gender

Figure 2.2 shows the amount of male and female respondents’ who answered the questionnaire and it shows that female has the largest portion with the amount of 72% (36) respondents while the male’s amount is 28% (14) respondents.

It was found that the 50 respondents who answered the questionnaire, 64% (32) of the respondents were have a kids while the rest, 36% (18) were do not have a kids.

- Respondents’ Level of Income

Above shows the amount of income level received by the respondents per month. As we can see, the highest amount of respondents’ income level is in RM3001 above per month which is 50% (25). Therefore, the lowest amount of respondents’ income level is below than RM1000 each month. Moreover, the amount of respondents’ income level RM 1001-2000 per month is 28% (14) while the amount of respondents’ income level RM 2001-3000 per month is 20% (10).

- Respondents’ Race

Figure 2.5 shows the respondents’ race who answered the questionnaires. We can see that most of the respondents are Malay with the amount of 96% (48). While there are 2% (1) respondent were Chinese and 2% (1) respondent were Indian.

Figure 2.6 indicates the status of respondents. We can see that majority of the respondents were married while the amounts of respondents were single are 30% (15) from the 50 respondents.

The chart above shows whether the respondents doing two works in one time. As we can see in the above chart, majority of respondents which is 60% (30) respondents not doing two works in one time while there are only 40% (20) respondents said that they were doing two works in one time.

The bar chart above shows the respondents’ reasons that make them do two works in one time. As we can see, the highest amount of respondents’ reasons were choose get more income as the main reason with the amount 48% (24). Besides that, 42% (21) respondents were choose economic pressure and falling currency. In addition, 8% (4) respondents were choose hobby as a reason to do two works in one time and 4% (2) respondents were choose the others.

The pie chart shows 54% (27) respondents choose agree that doing two works in one time will make a person to become richer. Meanwhile, the other 46% (23) not agree that doing two works in one time will make a person to become richer.
