In general, I believe that people enjoy movies, books and video games about violence and serial murderers. Disavowing involvement is a way to experience serial murderers lives without being in harm’s way. Individuals can remove themselves from their current lives and place themselves into the story. Most individuals can draw the line between fact and fantasy, they are able to realize that what they are involved in for the time is not real it is just a book or movie. Mickey and Mallory were the most interestingly deranged couple I think I have ever watched in a movie. They were constantly seeming as if they were on drugs, with Mickey's face always distorting. The murders were those that I could never imagine myself being around in real life. A lot of the serial murderer movies are for enjoyment purposes. We, as the film industry wants, watches them and talks about the films, we are separated from the violence, for the most part. Although there may be some individuals out there that watch these movies and read these stories that can relate to them. Watching serial murderer movies is no different than watching Science Fiction and Fantasy films. We watch them to take ourselves away from our current real life.
