After reading “Panopticism” it is clear to me that while constant surveillance may make us uncomfortable, it results in a more effective, highly productive, and safe society. It is clearly present in all aspects of our lives and can be seen benefitting many organizations and companies. The panoptic society that is present in The Minority report is to create a safer society to live in, just as the panoptic society we live in is to create a more effective and successful society. Be it through the examination of knowledge and behavior of our young people or through tests and records kept on our ill, it all boils down to how we can make society as comfortable and productive as possible.

Genre: Expository Essay
Medium: Personal Blog created using a service such as “blogspot” or something similar. The topics of blog entries are whatever I feel like writing, but often center on literature I have read and movies I have watched. I have recently watched minority report and read “Panopticism” and decided to write about them on my blog.
Audience: Viewers of a casual blog, which talks about a variety of literature/movies. They probably stumbled across this blog using google to look for something.
Purpose: To talk about two inter-connecting pieces of film and literature I have recently seen
Method of documenting sources: I documented sources using only quotations. This is appropriate because my medium is a personal blog, which does not produce any revenue, and is solely used for random topics I would wish to write about.
