THE KEY TO LEARN A FOREING LANGUAGE IS LISTENING

It´s that time of your life when you decide learning a foreign language is important for knowledge and culture. Maybe you can´t afford learning in an institute and you have decided learning by yourself but you do not know how, don´t despair. Follow our guide and start today.

Before you start

* Get organised: draw up a revision timetable of topics to cover. Stick to it and let your family know that you are serious, so that they don´t interrupt your studies.

* Set goals: to keep motivated set daily goals, make sure they are realistic so that you don´t panic if you can´t accomplish them.

* Commit yourself: dedicate at list 15 daily minutes.

* Remember what you are studying for. Why do you need to learn this language? Keeping your long-term goal in mind will help maintain your motivation.

Studying tactics

* Resist the temptation to translate from your native language. Many times languages cannot be translated in the literal way because they express ideas or simply because that is not the way of translating it from your native language. Therefore try thinking ideas and find out to express it according the language you want to learn.

* It´s important to practise your writing. Maybe you are interested in how to speak the language however; knowing how to write it can also help you at the time of speaking.

* Don´t forget to practise pronunciation, for people to understand you it´s important to pronounce the language properly.

* Start with the basic, in every language there are between 50 and 100 basic words. If you learn those 100 words for sure you will be able to make yourself understood and start with more difficult things.

After learning

* Remember you never stop learning, it is almost impossible to know how to speak all the language, so never stop learning and studying.

* Practise your language every day and don´t let a lot of time pass without speaking the language

* Allow plenty of time for watching movies and reading because contrary to what some people may think, it is not a waste
