Dickie’s Dead does not only represent the cruel side of the government but also the failure of humanity, the price you pay for being independent is your dead?

In conclusion, I think this story tells us that we are lucky to live in a country where we have our freedom to express our feelings and we could protest to the things we don’t want. But in some countries like North Korea you are not even allowed to speak bad of the government and the dictator, you are not even allowed to choose your leader but here we are free and provided with all the rights yet we take things for granted, from reading this short story I’ve realised how lucky I should be to be and I would not want to live in a society where my life is controlled by a system, I would want all my rights and the idea of the smart ones being killed and let the dumb walk the earth just so the government won’t get overthrown and it is totally cruel. Examination day is an excellent depiction of a dystopian society that follows a written code that regulates and excludes out the intelligent one that pose an alleged threat to the government
