In the article like “Man Inspires Class by Overcoming Obstacles” showed a good connection to the books situation. In Shawn Weigel article, Pat Borgan has come upon a disease called Dystonia that caused movement disorder after a bicycle incident 15 years ago. “Borgan struggled with his treatment for a number of years, which has left his coaching career on the back burner as he worked his way back to health. Last summer, he participated in his first ever triathlon, a lifelong dream of Brogan’s from well before his diagnosis.”(Weigel) He knew that that obstacle wouldn’t stop him from “his goal to go back to being healthy and stable to achieve [coaching a major division].”(Weigel) Borgan wanted to continue living his life to complete the goals he had of becoming a professional athlete or coach. As many people heard about his story, they were inspired to share it with others and practically the world. “ Borgan delivers his inspirational story in schools and to private groups, emphasizing the determination needed to identify and fulfill one’s goals.”(Weigel) Life is given to live to the fullest and not let one little thing bring everything down, just as he surpasses the obstacles that many would give up on, he continues his journey inspiring kids to adults to never stop. Just like the band, The Last Days, they didn’t let the disease conquer them, their fans, or the whole world. From fighting worms, to those cannibals that completely lost it, is just like a man who fights the permanent beast inside him, neither scenarios gave up to achieve what they wanted out of life.
There are various obstacles that life that challenge one to overcome it, either being a difficult, scary, or easy one. Surpassing obstacles is the theme of The Last Days, by the cannibalistic epidemic disease, Moz, Zahler, Pearl, Minerva, and Alana Ray encounter one another to form a band, become world famous, and play gigs for millions of fans. As they discover that their singer is the key to hold the band and also infected with the disease, they go through major obstacles to keep everything as planned. When it came to saving the world from the disease epidemic and the cannibals that interfere in their road to fame, giving up all their goals and handwork wasn’t an option. Just how the real world relates, people prove the worse wrong and surpass anything in their way because giving up should’t be an option when it comes to achieving that dream goal that so much work has been put into it.
