lower class too. It also shows that upper class people like Steerforth are treated better than working class people.
In David Copperfield, Dickens, shares in the book some of the values that he believed lead to his success in life such as “My meaning simply is, that whatever I have tried to do in life, I have tried with all my heart to do well; that whatever I have devoted myself to, I have devoted myself to completely; that in great aims and in small, I have always been thoroughly in earnest.” David Copperfield is more of an autobiography of Charles, firstly, you may notice that David’s initials are an inverted version of Charles’ initials. Secondly, many things such as the fact that he was abandoned by his family, in David Copperfield both his parents die “My father’s eyes had closed upon the light of this world six months, when mine opened on it”. Another relation to his life could be his bride. David did not like Dora since she was a terrible housewife, and near the end, she dies. Likewise, charles married Catherine Hogarth, who was not the love of his life. They brood ten children together and later onwards separated. Later onwards, Charles got contact with his true love, however she was not how she expected anymore, she was plump and ugly. Unlike David Copperfield, Charles was not satisfied with his true love, however David was “I said, bending
over her. ‘I tried to tell you, when we met to-day, something that has been in my thoughts since Dora died. “
In conclusion, Charles was an avid writer, who was very poor and miserable. Without his misery however, he would not of written such avid stories. Dickens is highly respected as of today, and his literature is still spread around the world.
