and promoted based on how many employees they individually coached and promoted. HR is available via chat, email, and voice. Other communication channels such as communication boards and chat are available on daily basis for all employees and management to communicate. My company acknowledges and listens to employee concerns and creates solutions to everyone’s satisfaction. We have weekly meetings and monthly company wide meeting where upper management presents solutions to employee main concerns. I am fortunate to work here and feel sorry for those Betty Page employees who were ignored and it sounded like their safety was in danger, which is a somewhat serious issue.
3. Explain how you would communicate this decision to your employees or supervisors (depending on the decision you have selected) to ensure that situations like this do not occur again. In your answer, determine whether or not you feel a social media policy is a good method. If so, list at least three things you would include in your policy and why you would include them. If you do not feel a social media policy is appropriate, explain why you would not implement one (give at least two valid reasons). (3–4 paragraphs) (15 points)
If I had similar concerns I would email my manager to meet up and have a one on one meeting to go over my concerns. My manager is my main point of contact and she is excellent in presenting solutions. If she can’t help she is a great resource in pointing us in the right direction in which department’s to use and find a solution. A similar problem I can think of in regards to the Betty Page case would be if I had to change my schedule for personal reasons. I would tell my manager that my current schedule is a concern and I need to find an alternative. I could ask one of my peers to switch schedules or wait for our quarterly mini bids where I can change my schedule to anything else I want. We also have an annual bid where we can choose form a variety of schedules. A director could be also involved in approving a different schedule to accommodate me if necessary. I work for a large company so this would not be a huge issue. There is absolutely no wise reasons to use social media and voice my opinion online with million’s of others when I have so many options to solve this concern professionally in an ethical manner.
My company’s social media policy is very strict due to the nature of business we are in. The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) heavily regulates financial advisors. This is to protect clients as well as the company and us employees from financial loss. In addition, the company has to protect its reputation and has dedicated social media relation’s team that corresponds with clients. Company reputation could be devastated because of employees sharing confidential information and communicating with random clients on social media. This is reasonable and in my opinion most companies have similar social media policy for similar reasons. Once something goes viral on social media it stays there forever and business could be impacted significantly for years to come.
