Acceptance Criteria
The value proposition of any movie project judgment comes down to each individuals’ personal taste, however, what matters for the movie producers is that there is a global consensus over the quality of the movie. There are many variables that influence the way in which people perceive a universally quality movie, nevertheless, we will evaluate a few of these to understand if our project will be attractive or not to the global market. Before we do any type of analysis we have to understand the nature of our specific project.
Cast
The fact that we have decided to present a non-fictional movie project, it becomes absolutely crucial that the cast is good enough in order to be able to compensate for the lack of ability to create endearing, interesting fictional characters the way fictional movies do. The ability to engage with the audience becomes therefore as important as the quality of the underlying story. In our case, we understand that the inclusion of widely known actors such as Leonardo Di Caprio, Javier Bardem or even Matthew McConaughey is going to be fundamental for the success of the project. In the end, it's the cast that will attract viewers to watch the movie through the various platforms available. This initial mobilization of mass viewers is fundamental for the success of the project, as this is what will boost revenues for the project, together with the consequent mass positive reviews. We believe that if the movie is only able to attract a small number of initial viewers, the reviews’ ability to attract subsequent viewers is residual and the movie might reach an obsolete stage very quickly. Another important result of the inclusion of popular actors is the ability of the project to penetrate into many different markets worldwide.
Message / Story
The message is one of the most important products of the movie. This component is not only what the movie is going to market its self about, but also what is going to attract the audience. Many studies have been made about what makes a movie a success. The results show that historically good movies contain a story that engages with the audience. More specifically, we have to evaluate if your story is believable or not; if the audience feels it could happen to them or not, creating a feeling of a dream or ambition. Obviously this will depend on the target viewers. It becomes therefore very important that this project is able to effectively focus on the needs and wants of a specific target group, potentially exploring the current themes being discussed in society.
In this sense, our project will be aimed at young teenagers about a true story of the life of 5 friends lives in Madrid. One of the most important criteria is therefore that the actors look alike the real life characters, which lived the situations that are depicted in the story. Related to this, it becomes also very important that we are able to film this movie in the same places as the stories happened, for the sake of a realistic story.
Duration
We have noticed that successful movies nowadays have an average movie has about 2h30[1] of duration. Additionally, the rules for the Academy and Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awards (Oscars) state that a movie has to have a minimum duration of 40 minutes[2], making it therefore imperative that out movie duration has a duration in between these parameters.

WBS & Critical Path
For comprehension purposes we have decided to include both a WBS diagram of our movie production process, together with a critical path for each phase of the process. They can be found in Appendices 1 - 4.

Resources (people assigned to the project)
For our project of producing a movie, we have significant amounts of resources that have to be included in order for the movie to be successful. As expected the various components of the production process require many highly specialized technicians for the stages of pre-production, production and post-production. It is important to understand that the people selected and assigned to the production of this movie have been subject to a rigorous and thorough process due to risky and intricate nature of the project. Their competences, skills and experiences need to match the specific requirements of the project, and therefore they constitute a crucial asset to the production process. Their complementarity is highly valuable to the success of the project, as this will depend on how efficiently they can collaborate.
For synthesis reasons however, we will look to group the jobs presented in Appendix 5, so that the comprehensiveness of this case is not jeopardized.
Actors
The main elements of the cast also had to be carefully chosen. We have decided to include as the main flagship of the movie 3 award winning actors: Leonardo Di Caprio, Matthew McConaughey and Javier Bardem – the latter included in order to build an emotional link with the our main market – Spain. As we stated previously, the cast selection is crucial for the audience engagement and consequent success of the movie. We have decided to reiterate their importance in the resources as they constitute one of the most valuable components.
Producers
Apart from the whole team of producers, we have decided to invite a popular Spanish professional called Pedro Almodovar. This producer is widely known in Spain and is considered to be one of the most important figures of Spainsh culture. Although we could restrict our expenses by excluding this figure, we thought that it would be crucial in terms of the popularity of our movie in the country – not only for media coverage but also for expertise purposes.
