I believe that the best way to learn is by trying and doing so I will volunteer myself to take on more challenges at work whenever possible. This will be an ongoing process and it will give me the opportunity to get a better understanding of how the company works, slowly allowing me to see the big picture within the company I work for. I will also look for advice from people in the supply chain industry and coworkers in my company, asking them how they have learnt throughout their career to see the big picture and not get caught with little problems along the way. This would be done thought-out 2016 and it’s an ongoing learning process.
Furthermore, I have volunteered within my company to participate in the community investment committee, I believe this will allow me to create and manage internal and external relationships and will provide me with the support of my coworkers during the course of the yearlong commitment. This initiative starts in February and we will meet once a month. In addition, by being part of this committee, I will learn a great deal about honesty, because our main objective in this team is to allocate money for good causes; I will have the opportunity to meet with great philanthropists and to learn from their experience and values.
Also, the above mentioned initiatives will allow me as well, to broaden my competency by gaining a better understating of the company I work for, I will also learn a great deal from those around me. I will make sure to ask questions whenever something in unclear in order to gain as much knowledge as possible about how the company works.
In addition, I’m planning on keep attending workshops and keep up my readings about leadership and how to motivate people. This will be a continuous process as I need to practice as much as possible. Ideally, I would like to get a volunteer position that allows me to apply what I learn without the stress of being at work. This will be done at the beginning of March, 2016.

I would definitely try to have the five Practice of Leadership explained in the Leadership Challenge. I would become a visionary leader, someone that always sees the big picture no matter how many problems and step backs are encountered in the way by “Challenging the Process”. I would like to be creative yet realistic and open to new ideas. I would like to be the kind of leader who takes risks but always have a plan; these plans are of course flexible but they will keep me moving no matter what. I would like to always be passionate about what I do and be able to influence people.
I would like to become better at reading people and situations and develop people’s trust and support by always showing strong values and high integrity. I would also like to “Model the Way” by being open and upfront as I don’t like people with hidden agendas, I will show by example that is better to be honest than to lie to get things done. I definitely would like to have an empowering style, and ‘Enable Other To Act, allowing those in my team to collaborate with ideas and letting them take charge of projects, I would emphasize cooperation between all parties and I would leverage the team strengths, I would try as much as possible to understand their strengths and place them in positions were they will succeed. I would like to be a positive leader, someone that makes good impressions and keeps it that way; fostering at all times a positive environment and providing reward and recognition to my team, always trying to ‘Inspire a Shared Vision”.
Furthermore, I would like to have the ability to make difficult decisions quickly, without compromising my integrity and never losing sight of the big picture.
In addition, it’s important that I’m always self-aware of my strengths and the missing strengths I need from my team. I would make an effort to learn my leader style in order to improve the qualities I’m missing. Also, I would have to keep in mind to surround myself with all different kinds of people with different skills sets so that they help me achieve the ultimate goal. Also, I would like to be a caring leader, someone that cares not only for the business but for the people involved, always “Encouraging the Heart”. Being genuine with people is something I have appreciated from leaders so I would do my best to always be clear with myself and others about my values.
