Both are linked with faith and power which leads people to provide unconditional support, which includes economy since it allows people to ‘connect’ and reply on. Functions of religion served now are even more fulfilled by the enjoyment of mass media since people can find comfort in religion. The iPhone as the ‘Jesus phone’ also highlights some common narratives used to present the relationship of religion to technology.

As the result, if people believe in Apple company, people will automatically become a believer and support all the products once they are released without self-consciousness.

Popular culture has to do with the content and quality of collective life.Back then when iPhone was not that famous among people in the whole world, people do not even consider it as a religion. Since small groups absorb more of their members’ personalities than larger group, every increase in size grants individuality more latitude. (Lang & Lang, 1009)

When people consider Apple Inc. as a religion, they also compare Steve Jobs as God since he is a nice marketing person. With the launch of iPhone 4, many people become believers of this “Apple Inc Religion’. They think that iPhone is not only what they want, but it is also what they need. Not any other phone, but iPhone. It make people obsessive to phones. For those who are the non-believers, all the slogans and signs and also how Steve Jobs presented the new launched phones call them out.

With reference of Mass Society Theory, it is true that Apple Inc. or iPhone is a commercial culture since they need to make profit also. However, it is not only about profit. IPhone can become a popular culture because it can fulfill people’s needs.

IPhone is a popular culture because according to Mass Society Theory,it is produced by the industrial techniques of mass production and is also a commercial culture. Its slogans and logo can be related to the Bible. Similar with religion, it is not about understanding. Instead, people will just talk about it and buy the products once it released. It is a culture marketed for profit to a mass public of consumers. All-female e-sports Gaming Team

When people talk about full-time e-sports gaming teams in Hong Kong, they tend to think that those people are : (A) people who are not willing to find a proper job (B) all men. This is due to categorization. Categorization is creating labels which are being assigned to people, thus stereotyping. However, now in Hong Kong, not only more and more people become full-time pro e-sports game players, there are also all-female professional video gaming teams in Hong Kong, which are called ’PandaCute’ and ’ Girls HK’. Different from the previous two popular culture, all-female e-sports gaming team only start gaining people’s attention this year.

Stereotypes for women in e-sports

In fact, in e-sports gaming world, men are always labeled as ’skillful’ and women are always labeled as ’useless’ or ’she can only be a support. Therefore, when a all-female e-sports gaming team (PandaCute) won a competition, it was quite shocking to other people. Whether people change their mindset and stereotyping or not, they all talk about it. Magazines, newspaper, radios, they all interview the female pro gamers. All-female e-sports Gaming Team has a value to be talked by public.

How does this new popular culture change people’s stand of normality

Due to past influences and social impact, it is not easy to change people’s labels towards professional females gamers; nevertheless, since there are now more and more voices and opinions raised through different media, people are more willing to speak out and break the old labeling and cauterization. In order to understand to world nowadays, people need to make sense of present and future with reference to past knowledge and experience.

Since the all-female e-sports Gaming Team in Hong Kong won an award in a huge competition, it actually sends signals in some way which, when audience or readers receive the signal, they will interpret it and make sense of it.
