On the other hand, JDS Trucking also experiences weaknesses among the management team. These weakness has been demonstrated by the manager’s lack of a clear vision in taking the technology to the next level. Managers of the company are able to utilize the technology but have significantly failed to consider how the technology can be of benefit, when new problems came up. Managers and other employees communicate with each other about the challenges the organization is facing but they do not bring those challenges up to the executive of the company who may have been able to organize a sit down and communicate with then they all could have had a brainstorming sessions or research session on the topic and came up with a way to work out a solution to the problem that was happening with in the company (Holstein, 2011). In addition, the managers often do not include the workers in their respective departments and divisions when they are faced with the challenges. To fix this problem JDS trucking had a meeting with everyone within the management team and they came up with a way to fix this problem. They are using any means to get the message across to drivers and the people in the offices. Whether it is a text, email, or phone call. They want communication and they want to know that the service is good and that everything is going good on all ends of the stick.

According to The Write Market (2008), the top three ways to beat competitors is to focus on delivery, quality and performance. Therefore, working with employees in each of those departments that are affected, though cross functional teams, will help identify any specific ways the organization can improve customer service. Delivery may need to consider whether routes are as efficient as possible and whether personnel are going the extra mile for customers, when they deliver and set up supplies. Performance improvement may mean training customer service agents to ask more questions of current and potential customers, to ensure their needs are completely understood. Guarantees and offering one-of- a-kind supplies are other ways JDS Trucking can compete with new supply companies in the region.

To counter the threat of the direct competitors, JDS Trucking intends to use and maintain an extensive marketing campaign that will be designed to ensuring the maximum visibility for its services that JDS Trucking is offering within our targeted market and reach out to others and show to others that may need our services. The company has lied its eyes in establish mutual relationships with other trucking brokers and agents within and without the market, employing a local campaign with the firms’ targeted market through the use of word of mouth, flyers, local newspaper advertisements, and social medias. Finally to develop an online presence through acquisition of accounts for the major online trucking portals. This approach is of critical importance with the current trucking market environment. The use internet based strategy is very important as many people are seeking truck driving jobs for employment or for moving large products through the use of the internet with the aim of conducting their preliminary searches.

JDS Trucking Heavy Haul Management team has been drawn up with a group dynamics, strengths and weaknesses, team philosophy and leadership styles described. The said hypothetical team is then put together to work towards adapting the business to given scenarios such as a strike and new competitors.

The roaming workers strike has represented a big headache to the management team on how to solve it since they want an increase in their pay when the company’s revenues have sent signals that it might decrease due to the typical economic climate of the trucking business industry. In this times of anticipated economic recession, the Company may experience challenges with its top line income and the trucking income may start declining. Despite this, recurring nature of the economic signs, moving income streams from the company will ensure that the business is able to maintain its profitability and post a positive cash flow at all times thus enabling it to meet the demands of its workers and solve the wage dispute amicably.

In conclusion, the overall leadership and management need to be well organized as well as open to any change. They should carry out their activity focusing on the customer service and marketing of the end product. That is, meeting the customer needs with achievement.
