3. Research Problem and Objective
From the literature review it is clearly evident that men and women have inherent difference in their behaviour and thought processes. These differences often affect the way one makes a decision or choice. It is understood from the literature survey that men rush for the finish line while women explore and communicate about various underlying concerns. A classic example would be the conversation from ‘You Just don’t understand” where a couple were planning a summer trip and the husband makes a plan without thinking of other concerns going in her wife’s mind. The wife gets sad and asks her what’s wrong then she says about other concerns and then they both sat together and discussed all her concerns and made a perfect plan for them. This examples clearly demonstrates that a man rushes to decision while a woman thinks about other things. This example has formed base for our research problem in this study:
Research Problem: To verify the fact that men tend to not contemplate much while making a decision whereas women tend to carefully assess before making any move.
Objective: To study and understand the time taken by men and women to make a decision when they are put in the similar situation. We aim to observe this through a simple experiment where both genders would be presented with two bowls, one bowl containing very few chocolates and the other containing a bowl full, the participants would be then asked to pick one chocolate from either of the bowl.
5 Analysis and Discussion of findings:
As per our test results, we analysed a diversified bunch of 26 participants on the basis of below parameters:
1. Average time take to choose a chocolate from one of the bowls
2. Lowest / fastest time required by a participant to choose a bowl and chocolate
The participants have been categorised based on genders i.e. male and female and the results have been studied accordingly. We evaluated the differences in observations and statistically analysed the results which can be seen below.
