Pros.

Availability of source material.

It is evident that biofuels produced from unlimited sources or materials for instance crop waste, and manure that easily recycled. On the other hand, oil has a limited source of specific materials.

Renewable nature of bio-fuels

Bio-fuels are readily due to the renewable growth of new plants and continuous collection of waste materials while there is a long process in the production of oil. Bio-fuels will, therefore, reduce the production costs, and the energy in constant supply.

Carbon emissions lowered.

During the burning of bio-fuels, there is a production of less carbon and toxins in the air as compared to oil. Replacing bio-fuels will, therefore, reduce air pollution in the atmosphere.

It acts a source of energy security.

Local production of biofuels mainly reduces the overreliance of fuels from foreigns nations. Exploitation from high fuel costs from other countries is also reduced thereby saving a lot of money.

Cons

Increased fuels and food prices

The cost of bio-fuels much higher compared to oil. The price of raw materials and lower density of energy results in the increased cost of biofuels during heat production. Comparing the Energy Resource on Investment (EROI), oil proves to be economical to producers thus cheaper fuel and food prices. Therefore, those advocating for renewable fuels such as bio-fuels over the conventional energy like oil have always ignored the economic impact of fuels and food prices

Lower power output.

Compared to oil, biofuels has lower energy output thus, requires larger quantities used in the production of the same energy level. Some arguments have risen that the bio-fuels are not that good replacing oil.

Is the corn ethanol push reality a scam? Why or why not? What about biodiesel?

Corn ethanol push is indeed a scam. Because for the production of ethanol, much consumption of maize crop required. The high use of corn will increase the threat of hunger striking in a country. Also, more emphasis devoted to the farming of corns neglecting other stable foods such as wheat.

However, biodiesel push is perhaps not also the best remedy for a country for it will not benefit the agriculture, end dependence on oil, protect the environment and provide food for our table. Growing the crops will increase the food prices thus affecting the poor just for a country’s increasing appetite for alternative fuel.
