Globalization has given the chance to Create cross cultural fusion. Our culture is creating A fusion with other Countries culture like “Western culture”, “K-pop Culture”, “African Culture” etc. But India surrounds us From 3 Sides. So it is very obvious thatour culture is most likely to create a fusion with their culture. And actually it happened. It’s creating a blend with Indian culture in a great magnitude. But this fusion is posing a great Threat to our cultures existence. Its leaving a long Lasting effect in our youth. They are blindly following Indian culture and not caring about our own culture. In their everyday life they are giving more importance to Indian stuffs then our own. They feel more comfortable wearing Indian dress, listening to Indian music, watching Indian channels etc. Maybe it will be tough to find a house where “Star Plus” isn’t being shown and “BTV” is shown instead. . Bangladesh witnessed a cultural shift during the time of some biggest festivals like ‘Eid and Puja. Bangladeshi markets got surrounded by the Indian dresses and people were really passionate to buy them. The buyers of those Dresses were Bangladeshi girls and women, and those dresses were designed according to the outfits of the actresses from the Indian Programs. Since girls and women watch the programs early and late, they found the dresses pretty appealing .Even incident of suicide has been reported just because of a husband wasn’t willing to buy her wife a dress which was worn by an Indian actress. This kind of things should be of great concern .In the name of Cultural fusion, cultural invasion has already been started. So my research was proposed to show this kind of effect
Research Questions
In my research my plan is to investigate the result of fusion between Bangladeshi culture and Indian culture, and what effects does it have on our young generation. My research will address the following questions:
- Primary Question:
- What does cultural Fusion mean?
- Secondary Questions:
- Why Young generation are mostly effected from the fusion?
- To what extent are people in our society maintaining originality in traditional custom?
- Are we forgetting our own culture and adopting Indian culture instead?
- Why our young generation is adopting it?
- Why these two different cultures are blending?
HYPOTHESIS
The term cultural fusion is very self-explanatory. It means a blend between two different countries culture. Because India is our neighbor Country in many ways our cultures are mixing, and because of Globalization and media it’s easy to connect to their culture. Youths can be easily provoked by glamourous things which are the signature of Indian culture, and their tendency to follow these things greets the way for the fusion. But this fusion is of Indian culture is not success for the Bangladeshi culture, but for Indian culture. Because of this fusion we are embracing their culture but replacing our traditional customs.
Significance of research
For my research, I choose ‘‘Fusion of Indian and Bangladeshi culture in our youth’’ as my topic.Bangladesh has a rich, diverse culture. The rich culture of Bangladesh can be experienced in many Forms, such as their traditional music, vibrant dance, religion, colorful art and Literature. It’s our responsibility to preserve our prestigious culture but we are constantly failing. And if we speak the truth Indian culture does poses threat tour Bangladeshi culture. Our culture defines us and distinguishes us from others. It’s a matter of regret that sometimes people from other countries confuses us with Indians. It’s because of the combination of ours and their culture. So this research is my Effort to show what impacts does mixture of Indian and Bangladeshi culture has on our youth.
Methodology
- The primary resources of my survey was the students of North South University, where I will conduct a survey among individuals on the questionnaire based on my research topic.
- For my secondary research I used resources from the Internet, books, online magazine, and newspaper articles and consulted with a few experts.
Data Analysis
Here are the findings from the survey
- Preference of language for music

Here we can see a strong Illustration of the number of people who prefer Indian language in
Terms of listening to music. If we look around we can see almost60% of university or college going young people listen to Bangla Music. They don’t give that much priority to Bangla music.
- Channels people watch during leisure period
[pic 2]
This chart shows how we value our Bangladeshi channel. From a question Most of the people answered they watch Hindi serials when they return home from workplace or their educational institution. Very Few people said that they watch Bangladeshi programs. The reason behind this is that India represents their TV channels in a fancy Way which widely attracts our population to watch those channels while unknowingly people adopt their culture.
- Favorite sports club of our young generation
Here this chart
[pic 3]
Shows that people of our country love to watch Kolkata knight Riders play the most. Despite of Abahoni Limited and Dhaka Gladiators being bangladeshi sport club. They love to watch an Indian club play more than a Bangladeshi club. This is very alarming for us.
