run by an outside company to preserve the confidentiality of our employees. It complies with federal whis-tleblower policy against any form of disciplinary action or retaliation against employees who raise concerns or provide information regarding violations of company policy.
“Social responsibility is the obligation of as business to contribute to society” (Kelly, McGowen, Williams, 2013, p. 264) and Chipotle is not the exception. Each Chipotle store functions as an integral part of the local community and take part in community activities that promote educa-tion, health, culture, and development of social and civic activities. On our website we have ded-icated a section called “Talk To Us” for customers that are interested in getting in touch with Chipotle regarding fundraisers and community out reach (chipotle.com). Customers can obtain information about the process, time line, and eligibility to host an in-restaurant event. We have also pioneered a “No Junk” campaign. “Chipotle donates $10,000 to The Lunch Box, which will help about 32 million schoolchildren at 100,000 schools nationwide access to 100 school-tested, junk-free recipes created by Chef Ann Coper, the Renegade Lunch Lady, for every 100,000 junk emails forwarded to the company” (Ostdick, 2010). Another way in which Chipotle is looking to contribute to the community is by partnering with local homeless shelters in which we are able to donate food that still can be consumed but due to quality control we are unable to serve at our restaurants, instead of just discarding it. Lastly, Chipotle is considering to create a voluntary em-ployee driven program in which employees are able to contribute to a fund that would be used to help other company employees in case of emergencies caused by natural disasters, domestic vio-lence, medical emergencies, etc.
At Chipotle we take pride of our commitment to the community. We will continue to work hard everyday to uphold our high standards and continue to offer value to our employees and con-sumers alike.
