Contributions

Kevin’s contributions to the family would be the least because of the simple fact that he wants to venture out on his own. If he were successful in his real estate venture, then he would certainly boost the local community and economy with real estate development in his home town. On the other-hand, Derrick would provide retirement income to his parents as long as they can come to some sort of agreement. Since small businesses are the backbone of most local economies, the expansion of the business would boost the economy of his local community as well.

Conclusion

It seems that the two brothers are on completely different wavelengths when it comes to their future plans. Derrick seems pretty set on taking over the family business and expanding it to ensure its future survival. Kevin is determined to be his own man, and venture out to national and international markets in not only the service industry, but real estate as well. The only chance they have of sticking together is if Derrick can convince Kevin to come home and help grow the family business. There could be a chance that Kevin may find a passion in it, and want to continue to help run it and expand it with Derrick. According to the case, that may be an unlikely outcome and the brothers may finally end up going their separate ways after all.
