Despite the controversy and few risks involved with the procedures, vaccinations play a huge role in keeping a stable number of the American populous alive. Statements in A BluePrint for Improving the Promotion and Delivery of Adult Vaccination in the United States like, “the health and productivity costs of influenza alone are estimated to be as high as $87 billion a year.” give huge notice of how detrimental to America not vaccinating can be (Rand Corporation 5). Vaccines, as it stands, seems to be the only reasonable and effective way to defend against diseases. These diseases will not disappear on their own; it is only through the research and creation of vaccines that Americans can efficiently protect themselves and their families. Americans should feel confident in knowing our greatest defense against diseases is the best one they have.
