Technology is also extremely beneficial in some cases. Technological communication has brought the world immensely closer than it ever was. In the web article, “Positive Effects of Technology on Communication”, Laurel Storm writes about the evolution of technology. She explains, “Telegrams are faster than letters; phone calls, in turn, are faster than telegrams, as well as easier and more pleasant, since they require no go-between and allow users to hear each other's voice. Cell phones take this one step further, allowing people to call and speak with each other regardless of their location.” This is a perfect timeline of technology and where it has lead to. The news and most successful form of technology is through the internet. Online communication has skyrocketed in the most recent years, allowing it to be possible to not only hear the person you are talking to, but to now be able to see them in apps such as Skype and FaceTime. Benefits on disability and medical treatment are also important positive effects of technology. Hearing aids are able to boost hearing for partially deaf people and they are helped to understand speech better. There have also been technological advances that are able to provide hearing to those that are completely deaf. Laurel Storm also writes about some of the advances in Speech therapy over recent years. The positive effects of technology make it possible to break communication barriers that may never have otherwise been broken. These benefits have positively changed the world and are credited to the spread and growth of technology.
