A common person today can argue that teens need the hard punishment. An average teenager does challenge their parent in some instances. Rebellious teens are doing the same with the authority of the law people argue. That many teens today commit crimes when they know they could get off easily. Estudillo argues in her article, “Juveniles Should Be Tried as Adults in Certain Circumstances”, “Protected by a lenient and highly outdated juvenile justice system, violent youth have taken advantage of such benefits and have run rampant in our cities (3)”. If we were to put these young adolescents in the adult prison, where there are the real criminal would that benefit society. These young adolescents are more likely to be influenced by those. The teen who commits the severe crimes such as murder and rape may not necessarily have fully logical mind. Having teens face adult sentences so that they serve “hard” punishment is not the answer for these troubled teens.
Our justice system is not perfect. All we seek is justice for the victims. However, when we try teenager as adults that are neglecting[h]. These young adolescents were not seen as an adult before committing the crime. Our brain has not even fully developed by the age of 18 where we are considered as "adults". Having teens face adult punishment, when perhaps they are not fully functional is a crime. Teens, who is in adult prisons, usually end up following the habits of the criminals there. Having teens tried as adults seem to be justifiable, when in fact it potentially worsens the situation. Indeed, justice needs to be served, however it must be done fairly.
I agree with Sam on the word “neglected” so fix your sentence there… CAT
