- Change in Attitudes and Behaviour (400)

Of course, with the everchanging methods of media and communication, it will affect our attitudes and behaviours.

One of them is how we find our news. Newspapers are starting to fall behind, so does TV and other media. Now more and more people are starting to turn to social media referrals to find news. Tech blogger Mark Cuban recently noted, "For the 1st time ever, more people are finding my blog from Twitter and Facebook referrals than via Google.” (Gordhamer, 2009). Through social media, people feel more intimate because they know who shared it, they know what they are going to read and what they want to read. This has created a massive shift in the way newspaper companies and other media companies operate.

The other aspect is how we retain and create new friendships. Social media has become one of the most prominent Studies reveal that our time on social networks has nearly tripled in the last year, and while Facebook has always primarily centered around connecting with people and staying in touch with friends, according to a study on eMarketer, “41.6% percent of Internet users who used Twitter did so to keep in touch with their friends.”

This is the fact that people rely on social media to make new friends and get back to old ones as well. Due to their massive ability to still remember friends’ birthdays, and other profile information that they rely on to remember their friends and to create more meaningful friendships as well.

- Conclusion

In conclusion, media really does change multiple aspects of the society. Be it through social interactions, business, even attitudes and behaviours. It is up to us to be a smart user of the new media as they call it to benefit us rather than harm us.
