“Food Insecurity and Hunger: A Review of the Effects on Children’s Health and Behavior”, an article by Janice Ke MSc1 and Elizabeth Lee Ford-Jones MD2 discusses the mental and emotional problems a child can have as a result of living in a food insecure household. The article showed evidence that hunger can be related to mental and physical health issues, like depression and suicidal thoughts, and other conditions like asthma and obesity. This reference like the article by Kregg-Byers examines both physical and mental health issues caused by food insecurity which helped me discover how big of a problem food insecurity is.

This resource is an infographic by Column Five that is featured in Good Magazine. The infographic contains an abundance of charts and graphs that showcase food and hunger statistics in the United States of America. This source helped me with my research by providing statistics for me to use when addressing the rate of food insecurity in the U.S.
