Discrimination, human nature.

Discrimination is a real problem that continues existing in our society. “A sociological term that describes the attitudes and treatments adopted by members of mainstream society towards persons of specific groups on the sole basis of group or category, it is often translated into harmful and diminishing behavior by members of the dominant group towards other groups ”- (Stone, 2005, p 23-49). Discrimination takes place various groups, the most common are religion, race, gender, income, sexual preference, age and disability. But, discrimination is a natural way in our society to affect the people.

First, everything that is different makes people feel fear. Most of the people judge because a person thinks, dress, or just is simply different from the rest, we need to accept other people just the way they are. Every single person is different in one way or another.

Second, discrimination is the most natural way in human nature to direct aggression. More than once in your life, consciously or unconscious, you have discriminate a person or group of people. “Social adaptations include the ability to distinguish outgroup from ingroup and prefer the latter. An evolutionary level we are "built" to prefer those like us to those not like us. ”

Third, discrimination is natural but negative. Just because it is natural that does not mean it is good for us or impossible to eliminate. We could start by treating people the same, with no difference and with equality, that is the way we will eliminate discrimination.

In conclusion, evolution may have prepared our minds to prejudiced. Everyone is product of their surroundings. Our society needs a change but if you want a change you have to star with yourself.
