There are many types of depression and many causes. The first type of depression illness is Persistent Depressive Order. Basically this is the depression that lasts two years or longer. It is currently known as Dysthymia. It can result as low self-esteem, low energy, low attention spam, and moody. Dysthymia is a low self-esteem disease that is very mild and is treated lightly. The symptoms are not as major as the major depression but it last at least two years.
The next disorder is Bipolar Disorder. This is mostly when your mood changes constantly. When you are feeling low is when this type of depression would take effect. It results as impulsive behavior that causes disturbing actions to happen more frequently. It normally exhibits unusual disorders of major depression.
Seasonal Affective Disorder is when you can be totally normal on month or not as depressed one month than the next month. This disease occurs normally during the winter every time a year. Your mood, energy, sleep, and appetite levels affect your life drastically. This can also motivate your to change your ways of thinking. While your doctor may also suggest treatment such as medication or psychotherapy, the mainstay of winter SAD treatment is light therapy, otherwise known as phototherapy. Light therapy aims to replace the missing daylight of winter by exposing you to bright light that mimics natural outdoor light. Daily exposure can suppress the brain’s secretion of melatonin to help you feel more awake and alert, less drowsy and melancholy.
Postpartum depression is mainly for mothers. Currently six months after a mother has her child this type of depression occurs. It can look like the early stage of baby blues. This depression is rare. This could be used as a emergency.
In conclusion, this research has taught me some valuable information on the importance of depression. I learned that depression is an illness and is treated very seriously. People are killed over depression and even eventually looses everything the ever worked for. I advise all people to get tested concerning depression because it can be deadly.
