Bf-190's high altitude function is much stronger than Bf-109. It's good at skimming attack and it has substantial firepower, this makes it have more advantages to protect the control of the air. Bf-190 is fit to fly at 5km high from the ground(Thompson, 2008). The average aircraft always fly at 2km high from the ground.(Thompson, 2008)They always concealed at 5km high from the field and when they discover the enemy aircraft, they'll dive down and shoot it down, although it's low-flying maneuverability is not such great, it still could skimming then fly back to 5km high, the enemy will be unable to do anything.(Hickman, 2013) When they are diving, because of the accelerating of the gravity, the enemy aircraft could hardly dispense it.

Bf-109’s climbout ability is frailer than Bf-190. There was an example from history in an air battle in World War II. When Germany and the Soviet Union were at war, a Bf-109(Germany) seize the rear of La-7(Soviet Union) in the sky, continuous shoot off two enemy aircraft. Then a La-7 climb out suddenly, but Bf-109 couldn't accomplish the wide-angle to the same degree, so it stalled and began to fall, the La-7 showed no mercy and smashed it to fragment.(Wagner, 1978)

5.0 Firepower

Bf-190's firepower is powerful and with deterrence. Bf-109 have 2 × 13 mm MG 131 machine guns and 1 × 20 mm MG 151/20 cannon, but Bf-190 have 6 × 20 mm MG 151/20 cannon.(Hickman, 2013) Once Bf-190 hit the enemy aircraft, it will immediately disintegrate. 7.22mm machine gun often needs to shoot the fuel tank, the pilot or to destroy the wings to shoot the aircraft down, but 20mm cannon will smash the main body of the aircraft such as the keel.(Neulen, 2000) If it is the high explosive shells, it will make the fuel tank explode immediately.

Therefore, no matter what it is fighter aircraft or bomber aircraft when they encounter Bf-190 upper air, the better choice is to run away.

CONCLUSION

Bf-109 and Bf-190 are very similar that many people cannot even identify them, but they still have a lot of difference.Bf-109’s flying range is longer that it can escort the bomber whole way. It has inferior firepower ability but it is good at dogfighting and it has excellent low-flying maneuverability. Bf-190 has shorter flying range but it is expert in skimming and has superior high altitude function and firepower ability. We cannot deny that in the air battle, these two model numbers of aircraft are complementary advantages, and they are such great partner to escort the bombers.
