Monarchies. Germanic tribes like the Franks, Visigoths and the Vikings filled the vacuum because they had military advances and were smart and who they attacked, for this reason they had great power and pushed others around so they became a power that filled the void. Christianity filled the vacuum because many turned to God in their time of need looking for anything that could gives their lives structure. Because Christianity became so popular the Popes and Bishops (who were two religious figures in the church) became authority figures to people. War filled the vacuum because it was a major part of people’s lives in the Dark Ages and it controlled people’s schedules and time. Feudalism is an economical system with three main groups the Lord, The knights or feif and the peasants the common people in the town who worked for the Lord. Feudalism filled the vacuum because it was the new system used in the Middle Ages and it gave people a sense of security and structure. Lastly Monarchies a political system in which the heir to the thrown, the King ruled the townspeople, filled the vacuum because it was an actual system that finally provided citizens a ruler and control. When there is a change of power human nature fills the emptiness. If someone leaves it doesn’t mean that the power vacuum is gone it just gets changed. Like in 2003 when the U.S. invaded Iraq and took Saddam Hussein out of power there wasn’t just an absence of power, eventually terrorists groups formed and started to control others. That’s how human nature responds to a power change they just simply fill the void.
