- Subways

In many kind of public transportation in China, I prefer subway because it is fast, cheap, near to my place and doesn’t face traffic jam like bus. Moreover, subway is also a very effective transportation to reduce traffic jam and pollution because it is underground so it save the space on the street. [pic 5]

China's first subways opened to traffic in Beijing in 1970, and Tianjin in 1980 and subway systems were planned for construction in Harbin, Shanghai, and Guangzhou beginning in the 1980s. In its first phase, the Beijing subway system had 23.6 kilometers of track and 17 stations. In 1984 the second phase of construction added 16.1 kilometers of track and 12 stations, and in 1987 additional track and another station were added to close the loop on a now circular system. In 1987 there were plans to upgrade the signaling system and railcar equipment on seventeen kilometers of the first segment built. The subway carried more than 100 million passengers in 1985. In 1987 this accounted for only 4 percent of Beijing's 9 million commuters. The Beijing subway authorities estimated that passenger traffic would increase 20 percent yearly.

Like bus, passengers can buy tickets in cash or can use the prepaid card for more convenience. There is one subway station between a not very far distance. So it is very convenient for people to travel around city by this kind of transportation.

I like the subway system in China. It is designed look like very reasonable and convenient to transfer and check in or check out. The standardized steps help us to save the time when travelling.

- Bicycle[pic 6]

China is the first country whose people use bicycle the most I have ever seen. On the street, inside the campus, every where I can see bicycles. I appreciate this vehicle because it is safe, convenient, healthful for people, cheap, friendly to environment and many other advantages.

Travelling by bicycle seems to be an important part of Chinese people’s life. Everyone from a child to an old person can use bicycle.

Foreigners in China can own an old bike or even a new one with a very low price. Especially, bicycle renting service is also offered near scenic spots in tourist cities. With a rate of 20 to 50 Yuan a day, you can have a healthy, environment-friendly, cheap and comfortable bicycle trip wandering about the city.

- Walk

Unlike to many big cities in the word, China has a large level of pedestrians. On every street in China, you can see a lot of people walk to school, walk to the company, work to the shopping centers or walk wandering… This is a very improved type of modern life in which people are tend to exercise less and have more stress in work, walking can be a good way to keep the health, relax the brain and also save money. And another advantage is protecting environment.[pic 7]

- Rickshaw

This type of transportation must be very interesting to foreigners. Today, rickshaw is not often used in cities, as automobiles gradually substitute it and become the most important role in urban traffic system. In Beijing, rickshaw is highly recommended when you visit hutong (a kind of very characteristic old alleys). In Pingyao Ancient Town of Shanxi, rickshaws are very popular with tourists.

- Conclusion

China has the biggest population in the world. So the development in public transportation is very necessary to make people feel easier in travelling. I think what Chinese government has done for the traffic system is really good.

China is also a country that attracts many tourists from all over the world, so the convenience traffic transportation plays a very important part. All of my friends and I feel pleasant with traffic vehicle here. We can go everywhere without worrying too much about vehicle.

The wonderful thing about traffic in China is that the government encourages using public transportation with low fare to reduce the traffic jam and urban pollution. Moreover, unlike many other countries, people in China hardly use motorbike, which is a big improvement in protecting our global environment and reducing accidents.

There are many reasons the foreigners like me like China. And the first thing and also the great thing make me feel satisfactory here is the convenient and modern traffic system.
