people with normal pressure and those with glaucoma".
Comparison to Other Drugs
As I said before, marijuana is only one of the substances used by the public. It is also one of the substances with a negative stigma associated with it. One thing that people don’t know is that weed is actually one of least detrimental and helpful substances in many communities. One of the best things to compare it to is alcohol. Both substances are widely available, and they have similar effects. However, alcohol is legal everywhere even though it causes damage without any benefits. Alcohol has been proven to destroy parts of the human body, especially the liver, when large amounts are ingested. On livescience.com, Ruben Baler,a health scientist at the National Institute on Drug Abuse, was asked about the comparison. He stated, “You can die binge-drinking five minutes after you’ve been exposed to alcohol. That isn’t going to happen with marijuana. The impact of marijuana use is much subtler." Other legal substances such as tobacco and prescription pills have similar effects. Weed, on the other hand, is the complete opposite. The body does not sustain damage when exposed to large amounts of marijuana. In fact, smoking weed has been shown to benefit the body by expanding lung capacity, according to the Journal of the American Medical Association. The FDA has also supported the idea that marijuana can help with nausea and vomiting. These are two examples on a long list of benefits that have been supported by institutions such as Harvard and the previously mentioned FDA.
