I feel that I would not have fit into any other category due to my athletic ability, shining personality, and lack of creativity artistic skills. When finally finishing filling out all of the paperwork I had officially made a full commitment to attend all practices and to give 100% effort to this team. High school student athletes learn to work well independently and as team members as well, causing teammates to rely upon and support one another to reach a common goal. Student athletes show loyalty to their teammates by being dependable and responsible, showing up for all practices and putting forward their best physical and mental effort. High school athletes train very intensely to develop physical stamina in order to be physically prepared for competition. Another benefit of being a student athlete is that you are forced to maximize your use of time. Time management skills are put to the test when the student athlete not only is a full-time student, but also now has an additional time commitment. Because of this additional commitment, in order to be both academically and athletically successful, self-discipline must be implemented to control the athlete’s use of time. Some say that when a person has more responsibilities, they are forced to take control of how their time is used and they actually wind up accomplishing more and maintaining a high performance level in both academics and athletics.
