the disorganization of her thoughts and her life. However, towards the end after the questions and her laughter, Mrs. Wright reveals that her husband was dead and also reveals where he was located, implying that she was the murder. This shows that characters are developed through other characters and the evidence found.
Another work of literature that shows that characters develop and reveal who they are is found in the poem, In An Artist’s Studio, by Christina Rossetti. In the poem the main character is a painting of a nameless beautiful girl. The painter has given her an identity that is false. She is depicted as who he dreams her to be. He sees her as this beauty draped with jewels, a hidden beauty, an angel; the perfect vision. “The mirror gave back all her loveliness. A queen in opal or in ruby dress” (Rossetti, In An Artist’s Studio, p507). Her true nature is not one that is revealed but that is developed through the imagination, hopes, and dreams of someone else. This shows that characters are developed through other characters.
Even though people are not who they appear to be, their character is one that developed through other people or the situations they go through. This is seen in Trifles and In an Artist’s Studio where the characters are not visible so they are constructed by others. Like stated earlier characters are like a plot they are developed throughout the story through others and the situations that happen. At different points their description can change and different situations can shape how we view them. Just like plots there is always a twist and in this case we see this twist Trifles and the poem.
