they handed out coffee, doughnuts and soup to the poor. Over 85,000 people were served. This was thanks to the help of groups and individuals. (Doc.4). Secondly, The New Deal offered a solution to the Americans. Specifically, FDR came up with the idea of the New Deal. His ideas were all about relief, reform and recovery. (Doc.6). The relief was all for the unemployed. The recovery was all about the planning. The reforms were all about the ways to prevent another depression. They came up with many programs to help solve the problems. The main program that helped was the Social Security Act. It’s goal was to provide workers that weren’t employed with insurance and retirement benefits. Dr. Townsends plan for the SSA was to give benefits to man and women over the ahgeof 60. They would receive a pension of 200$ a month and they must spend it all in that month. They must have no other work that is giving them money. (Doc.7). Lastly, The Hoover Dam helped the Great Depression. They created the Hoover Dam in 1931 and finished it in 1936. The bridge was 200 feet tall and it was wider than two football fields. The purpose of the bridge was to sell power by the Colorado’s rushing water. The Hoover Dam needed flood control which opened a ton of jobs for the unemployed to make money. They had workers that could work 7 days a week and were strong enough to build the Hoover Dam. Those were the solutions that helped the Great Depression.

Thus, The Great Depression changed the way people look at their country through the problems and solutions. Everyone in America worked extremely hard to fix the disaster\ that the Great Depression cause.
