Although the two characters seemed quite similar, it is the actions their anger caused them to take, their anguished actions afterwards that separated the two. In the play “Hamlet”, after Hamlet had discovered that Claudius was responsible for the death of his father, all he knew was to avenge his father’s death. During this time, Hamlet was still hurting over the death of his father making it hard for him to kill Claudius, this made him question his capability and his life itself. Thinking about all his miseries causes him to contemplate suicide occasionally even saying in the text " to be or not to be that is the question" (act 3 scenes 1 page 3) asking of it’ll just be better to just kill himself and let all the pain and agony go away. But Although wanting to end his life at first, Hamlet remembers the purpose for this pain which was to do what the ghost of his father had wanted to see done justice. It is only then that he really understands he needs to finish his task. But in the story of “Othello”, Othello’s grief causes him to become a very irrational man First example in the play when he explains to Iago that he wants Cassio dead. He had no solid evidence to pin on Cassio but regardless due to his pain he wanted Cassio to suffer as well. Othello’s irrationality actions had come to a climax when he innocently kills his wife off mere speculations when he easily could have gotten the truth but because of his grief and anger it clouded his judgement causing him to kill and go rouge shortly after realizing that what he had done was wrong again without thinking kills himself to. Even though the two characters seemed similar because they were grieving and were struggling emotionally in their plays what changed and made the two different were the actions they took although hamlet had wanted to kill himself he knew what his was set for he knew he needed to do this for his father and because of this decided to stay alive until he finish his goal. But Othello when he was grieving and angry all he wanted to do was kill after realizing his wrongs he killed himself to escape the problems he was about to face.
