else (Steinbeck). He isn’t treated equal and is looked at differently because of the biases of whites. One reason blacks get low paying jobs is because of their lack of education.

Education in the US is separate and unequal among race because of money and lack of opportunities. Blacks are uneducated compared to whites and it is because of the disadvantages they have. They have little money as we said earlier and many problems which prohibits education. In the article “Education: Still Separate and Unequal” it says “Lower wealth, lower health, lower parental education levels, more dealings with the justice system and other circumstances create a perfect storm that leaves blacks without the same educational opportunities as whites”(Cook 1). These reasons leave whites with advantages that some blacks just can’t surpass. We were talking about wealth earlier and because of that gap blacks are at a severe disadvantage to whites. Sometimes blacks can’t get a high paying job with a good education because they just don’t have the opportunity. Some schools that are poor can’t offer a lot of classes and these school are from poor neighborhoods with a primarily black population. In the article it says “Fewer black students have access to a full range of high school math and science courses — algebra I, geometry, algebra II, calculus, biology, chemistry and physics”(Cook 1). Black are not even able to have the same classes as whites sometimes. They don’t even have the opportunity to surpass the obstacles because they just don’t have the classes to take. In addition to not having the classes even if they did it’s hard to take the opportunity. A lot of blacks have a very hard time in their family life or even just finding basic needs like food. In the article “Education: Still Separate and Unequal” it says “When a child doesn’t know where her next meal is coming from, when she is dealing with the loss of a parent or living in a household rife with substance abuse or neglect, it seems obvious that these home circumstances would impact her ability to concentrate at school”(Cook 1). How do blacks focus on school when they are so worried about food and just staying alive? They are less fortunate than whites and have to work or find food and sometimes don’t have time to do homework or study. They are at an extreme disadvantage.

All the disadvantages with education, wealth, and the work force have led to an unequal and racist country. If we can’t even offer the same opportunities to all races then we aren’t even pretending to be a fair country. The unequal opportunities between African Americans and whites portray a major social issue and how education, jobs and income are not presented to everyone he same way. As Berny said a great nation is one with equality and America is far from this with the disadvantages of blacks in all areas of our society.
