hard conditions as this time Is like to lay upon us.” (I.ii.172-175). Brutus was very prideful of his position and because he earned it by being Caesars right hand man. Both have done their jobs to get to the top of their reputation..
The tragic flaw here shows who the real tragic hero is. Now Nixon was doing illegal activities while in office and that caused his downfall. He was forced to resign because of his Watergate scandal. When he admitted it he didn’t apologize about doing it and keeping it a secret from everybody. Also he did it for his own self gain and not for the people of the United States.(pg.8). That caused his downfall and that’s why people were relieved he was forced to resign. When Brutus died he was mourned by the people of Rome because he was the only conspirator to kill Caesar for the good of Rome not for his own personal gain. “Shall Rome stand under one man’s awe? What, Rome?My ancestors did from the streets of Rome The Tarquin drive, when he was call’d a king.” (II.i.52-54). He wanted the people to live free and not be ruled by one person or tyrant. This is why Brutus would be the real tragic hero because he is mourned and didn’t do his deed for himself but for others.
This is why Brutus is the actual tragic hero. The things he did was not for himself. he never thought of himself when he would make a decision and this why he is considered the most noblest roman of all. A tragic hero must set aside himself and think of others when he does something and that’s why he/she is mourned by many because he sets himself aside for others. Brutus is the real definition of a tragic hero.
