It may seem silly but I cried my heart out for my best friend and the entire team. Majority of them were seniors and they had no more chances to prove themselves. I really felt their pain and I couldn’t do anything to make it better. Every football player’s eyes swell up and the helmets came off. I turned to my cheer sisters and we all just sat in disbelief. Three years in a row we lost the state championship title. I knew how hard everyone worked for this chance and that’s what hurt me the most. People don’t understand that just because you are not on the field, doesn’t mean you can’t hurt too. The weeks following the state game were depressing in a sense. The biggest guys in the school were walking around with faces of defeat. My best friend cried to me for days because he felt that the lost was his fault. All I could tell him was that football is a team sport. Cheerleading allowed me to experience different people and environments that I never thought I would.
Softball is a totally different sport compared to cheerleading. I even had a totally different mentality walking on to the softball field than I did walking on the football field to cheer. Softball included blood sweat and tears and no one could take that away from my team. I also became interested in softball when I was in middle school. This was a sport I chose to participate in because I knew it would be hard work and I wanted the feeling of winning to be in my heart. It was even more fun because I was great at it. No one could understand how it felt to step on that field and hear people calling your name and number telling you to hit it out of the park. This sport was important to me because it gave me a chance to show off what I could do as an individual as well as what I could contribute to the team as a whole.
