Our Iceberg Is Melting is a simple fable about doing good in an ever-changing world. This book show us a brief story about get used to the change that has been used to help thousands of people and organizations in over the world.
Firstly, in this story our author introduce us the characters Fred, Alice, Louis, Buddy, the professor, and NoNo. These characters are like people we recognize in our day-to-day. Story tell us the Emperor Penguins life in Antartica, where they thinking that this place are their permanent home. However, one day, a curious penguin suggest the idea that their iceberg is melting. An unwelcoming idea for some penguins. Their tale is one of resistance to change and heroic action, seemingly intractable obstacles and the most clever tactics for dealing with those obstacles. It’s a story that is occurring in different forms all around us today – but the penguins handle the very real challenges a great deal better than most of us.
In my point of view this book makes us thinking about the importance to looking for solutions to our problems. Besides, Our Iceberg Is Melting teach us applicable lessons in ours day-to-day for implementing changes and improve as a group:
* Acknowledging that a problem exists and convencing others to see it. In my opinion, its one of the most difficult parts the all the process because people tend to ignore the problems.
* Establish an effective team to guide and implement the change because each member of the team have their personality that complement to all the team.
* Identify what needs to be done for implement the change and make it reality
* Communicate the visions and the plans to the people. This step could be difficult if it not done well because its necessary for the colony that all the penguins are agree with the strategy and vision.
* Empower others to act. However for that makes it well firstly its important communicate well the vision and strategy.
* Demostrate tangible evidence of success at the very earliest opportunity.
* Keep talking daily actions to drive the new habits forward, and to avoid people slipping back into old, familiar habits. Be persistent.
* Embed the new culture into the team to lost the old habits.
In conclusion, Our Iceberg Is Melting tells a simple and effective means of promoting ideas, concepts and of imparting understanding. The method doesn’t necessarily have to be complicated or clever to be effective. Like many things in life, the simple ad straight-forward
