My father often didn't have much time for his family; as an immigrated family, he worked day and night to provide for his family. In the past, me and my father didn't often have as much bondage growing up, he was invested into his work and wasn't really a fan of distractions. My father and I did spend time with each other when he didn't have work, but not as much as I would have wanted to growing up. Although he wished he could've spent more time with me as a child, he knew he worked so I could maintain a healthy lifestyle and not have any problems with my needs. He worked so I could get an education, but that stuff wasn't really a concern for me back then, I just wanted to have fun and go to the park with my father. We were two different people in that sense, one wanted to enjoy his life and the other working so his kids could enjoy their lives. It didn't make much sense to me first but as I grew older, I slowly began to realize, that he worked for the benefits of everyone in my family. The uncertainties we had in the past began to heal when I reached the pinnacle of my childhood years, where me and my father began to find interests we shared and would spend more quality time together. It took my father a while to finally make some time to spend with his family, but it also took him years so we would be able to spend this family time at peace and graciously without any other worries. Since then me and my father have had a stable relationship and we do activities that make up for all the things we missed in my childhood.
We all as individuals will face difficulties dealing with the uncertainties of the past, the future of an event or situation is often formed and built upon the events which have taken place in the past and since the past cannot be replaced or changed, individuals must be able to fix issues they have faced in the past by changing motives in the present. Gus's father gave Gus a chance to be there for his own daughter. This ended up greatly strengthening Gus and Cathy's relationship, and created a strong basis for it to continue off of. Gus and his father's relationship also is beginning to fix up and improve when Gus realizes that his father is helping guide him from not making the same mistake of not being able to bond with his child during his adolescence. Similar to how I looked at my father's partial absence during my childhood, but it goes to show that to rebuild past situations is to heal them in the present time to make a better future for all.
