The author provides solutions to the above-mentioned problems. The authors recognize that there is ‘no one fits all template’ and provide a more individualized viewpoint that is specific to organizations operating in standard environments. The books objectives are; firstly, to allow readers learn the strategic importance of organized supply chain design, planning and operation for every firm. Although this book is written more for MBA students, the flow of this book should be well received by those who are not at post-graduate level. One of the objectives of this book is to create an understanding between the various logistics activities and to show how business logistics is connected to the overall strategy of a company. Some descriptions are explained in layman’s language, while others look more closely at special logistics activities as part of a supply chain. Focusing on the supply chain on a strategic, conceptual and analytical perspective, this book covers the activities of the organization involved in the flow of products, services, finances, and information from initial suppliers through ultimate users. The author examines the components of a well-designed and managed supply chain, explaining the metrics involved in measuring performance, and presents a practical approach to designing and building supply chain systems. Designed to give you a collection of topics that bridge the gap between the academic arena and industrial practice, the book supplies a contemporary and up-to-date review on the advanced theory, applications, and practices of supply chain management, making it a rich resource for the design, analysis, and implementation of supply chain management problems arising in a wide range of industries. Each individual chapter also addresses the answer to a challenging question as to how to go about applying quantitative tools to real-life operations, resulting in practical solutions. The textbook takes the reader out of the classroom and places them in the middle of the practical application of the theoretical notions. Yet, the author covers a wide range of concepts with the aim of giving the reader an introductory lesson on the topics at hand.
