Research Proposal ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS

The first ethical issue may be gaining informed consent. It would be difficult to get an informed consent as English is not a first language of most of the students. There may be problems of misunderstanding, misinterpretation of data, which may effect decisions of participating in the research. This could be overcome by explaining them its procedures, benefits and risks of the research, also providing, a leaflet explaining what the research is about in simple terms.

The second ethical issue could be protecting privacy and confidentiality. This is an issue as most of the students know each other and may feel uncomfortable about sharing their views with everyone. This issue is dealt by anonymity in collection, that is, the research participants would not mention their names in questionnaire.

Another possible issue would be avoiding harm. This is also an important issue, as some students may feel embarrassed about mentioning their earlier learning experience. This issue would be dealt by presenting the research in a neutral way. The researcher would also inform the research participants about their option to drop out of the research at anytime.
