Since John lands at the World State, he is repulsed by the lacklustre world; he also refuses to follow the principles which are made by ten controllers, which crates more conflicts between John and the World State. The thought of aversion to the world begins in chapter 15 when Linda is dead. At that time, John shouts: “Free, free!”, and “Men at last!” (187), and starting to throw away the soma outside the window. John repulses soma although everyone claims that soma makes people “free”, as a result he rebels against the conditioning of the World State. However, conditioning in the World State is influential, so that John fails on what he is trying to do. In addition, chapter 17 has the most impressive conversation between Mond and John which about civilized and uncivilized. At the end of the chapter, John speaks out all his thoughts, and says: “[John] [is] claiming the right to be unhappy” (212), and a dozen of terms which only appears in the Reservation, such as “grow old”, “ugly”, “impotent”, and so on. Citizens in the World State want everything in conditioning, on the other hand, John despises that and tries to persuade Mond with his theory. Obviously, it does not work at the end; therefore, after gets tired of the world, he repulses and again longs to escape. A big issue rises throughout this chapter, which one should humankind desires for, “the right to be unhappy”, or “being controlled and conditioned into happiness” (Justin).

In conclusion, as the sample of the primitive pitted against utopia, isolated, horrified, and repulsed are what John feels about the Brave New World. He attempts to change the world; nevertheless, it comes to nothing in the end because the conditioning of the world is extremely powerful.
