“The place to improve the world is first in one’s own heart and head and hands, and then works outward from there.” (Robert M. Pirsig).Industrial maintenance workers must be able to detect and correct errors before the machine, or the products it produces, are damaged. Machinery mechanics use technical manuals, their understanding of industrial equipment, and careful observation to discover the cause of a problem. For example, after hearing a vibration from a machine, a mechanic must decide whether it is the result of worn belts, weak motor bearings, or some other problem. Mechanics often need years of training and experience to be able to diagnose all of the problems they find in their work. They may use computerized diagnostic systems and vibration analysis techniques to help figure out the source of problems. In order to be an industrial maintenance how can a person do it without your hand? Industrial maintenance starts all from someone’s body (“College, Web). It starts all from the heart. To be a great maintenance you most love what you do. To be better than great you must love the job and think complicated things out in your head and last but not least after a person think through a situation they use their hand in order to complete what is needed to be done and from there it goes out. Repairing a robotic machine could be quite simple if you know what you are doing. The complicated thing is probably for those who actually make the pieces to the robot. After the robot is put together the machines barely breaks down but when it does that is when the repairing comes to play. In the repairing process maintenance must read technical manuals to understand the equipment controls. No one wants to work on something that can be considered dangerous if they do not know what it can do so therefore the maintenance worker reads the technical manual. Also they should disassemble machinery and equipment when there is a problem, check the performance of machinery, test malfunctioning machinery to determine whether major repairs are needed and to adjust equipment and reset or calibrate sensors and controls. It may seem as if an Industrial Maintenance worker does a lot but during their repair process it is probably all in the press of a few buttons. Now of course it is not all just pressing buttons, there are certain tools that you will be required to use and if it was just pressing buttons then anybody would be able to do it. Just repairing a machine is not the only thing an industrial maintenance mechanic does, Industrial maintenance mechanics also upkeep machines. Keeping the machines up will be small things such as changing the oil a machine or keeping the machine clean from dust so that the dust will not cause any electrical shock or spark to mess up a technical machine

On the job maintenance workers may suffer illnesses such as bruises, cuts, and strains ("Industrial, Web). They may even get shocked if working on charged circuits and touch them in the wrong way. Sometimes it can be complicated working as a maintenance while standing at the top of a ladder working on something you had to reach up on to work on. Someone arms could get tired and they also may be in uncomfortable positions while working under a machines in an uncomfortable positions. Even though you have rules to follow for safety, some avoid the rules and do what they want to. That what supervisor are for, to make sure people that want to do things their way, do not do things their way and do not cause things to mess up. Most of all of the injuries and illnesses can be avoided if the worker follow precautions and also wear protective equipment. Protective equipment would be things such as hardhats so that something falls on your head it would not hurt as bad. Most hard hats today are made of high-density polyethylene steel-toed shoes so hard things would not hurt your toe when large objects fall on them (the steel is there to protect the toe), and safety glasses so that small items or fluids will not get into your eyes ("Industrial, Web). If anything was to get in your eye while working you will have to contact a doctor or someone on the job who is professional trained. If anyone was to get hurt on the job then the job insurance will have to take care of that person.

Electrical hazards cause more than 300 electrocutions and 4,000 injuries in the workplace each year, disrupting lives and impacting the productivity of companies ("Safety, Web). Once again all electrical electrocutions and injuries could be avoid if one follow the safeties and precautions of the specific job. Over the past 10 years, more than 46,000 workers have been injured from on-the-job electrical hazards. These injuries are not isolated to any one industry or field of work and most could be easily avoided. Awareness of electrical hazards is critical to avoiding and preventing accidents ("Safety, Web). So that means over 4,600 people died a year over electrical shock or injuries. Safety on the job to simply avoid hazards are things such as use correct tools and use the tools correct as well, using the right tool in the wrong way could still lead up to injuries and shocks. You also need to isolate equipment from energy sources because most equipment is made of metal and metal conducts electricity very well and it can cause a shock. To prevent other shock you would want to check every circuit before using it, only work on de-energized circuits, lock out and ground the equipment before working on it, treat de-energize circuits as if they were energized, and last but not least wear protective equipment and use insulated tools so in electrical hazardous areas.( "Safety, Web). Only if you follow those procedures injuries and shocks could be avoided. However on the job there are most likely always going to be a minor injury but that is a part of the job. Electrical shocks could be reduced but there will never be an actually stop to an electrical shock or on job injuries.

As you can see maintenance can be a little risky and life threatening but so are a lot more things in life. If one look over all the flaws about being an industrial maintenance mechanic, one will see that after all of the college and money that is paid, it is absolutely worth it. No job is quite safe but with maintenance it may not be safe but it is fun. Throughout high school and college, Industrial maintenance is filled with hands on activities and joy. Although it may seem boring up keeping a machines one always wanted to know how work as a kid can be interested when working as adult. Industrial maintenance can be easy as changing oil on your car. Sometimes on the job it can get so easy that a person just sits there and watch over every one that is working. Sometimes you may just have to clean and sometimes you may have to work real hard why not be an industrial maintenance
