The Positives of War

When people hear war the first thing many people think of is unnecessary violence. When I hear war I hear profits, advancements in human rights and technological booms. Wars have been fought from the beginning of this country's creation and will be fought throughout the future but they are a necessary evil. Each and every way has brought about changes no one could ever imagine. War is the boom that advances our countries and others into a direction in a way nothing else could do.

To think that certain wars make the difference between whether or not certain people have unalienable human rights amazes me. To think that if the civil war never happened that important figures such as Martin Luther King Jr and Barack Obama never would’ve gotten to where the stature that they achieved. Talk all you want about lost lives but wars created lives and freedoms for an entire race of people in a country where they were considered property. Wars are the reason that our country is now the most diverse country in the world. (Towner 1)

War is the reason why we are a free nation. To think that we had a two -term black president is the most astonishing thing that would’ve never happened 200 years ago. The only thing that made all of that possible was war. Most people may not believe in fighting, but when people unify to fight against a common enemy a bond so powerful forms that nothing can stop it. For example during World War II had it not been for all the countries trying to stop Germany maybe Hitler would’ve gotten a lot farther than he did. Maybe we would’ve all been controlled by Germany and had our freedom taken away.(Goodwin 2)

It’s hard to think about what human rights would’ve been different had certain wars never happened.

Not only has war opened the door for people to have equal rights, but war helps them to build up the economy amongst every individual. First off, to point out the most obvious source of revenue during war times would be weapons, but that’s self explanatory. I want to talk to you about all the job opportunities and futures that are built off of enlisting in the military. No matter who you are in this country you can enlist in the military and once you do you are now open to a whole field of military jobs. You could do just about any kind of job you could think of through the military and don’t worry about not having the education for it, they pay for your education. (Wilson 3)

Now to point out that serving your country means that they will then turn around and pay for your college tuition which will then create more revenue for the country through new workers is insane. Wars literally help fund so many people's futures in this country and that fact goes unnoticed. Wars are the investors backing local businesses, in this situation, causing people who may
