A great leaders will able to face a big organization, will think beyond in globalized world of economy and will able to do rapid changes in demographic trend that give a great challenges to the world. Followers want leader who are enthusiastic, who have a bounce in their step and a positive attitude. Basically, an individual thought influence the development of a leader.

Leader is made with ability to lead and develop with life experiences that they face such as failure, achievement and crises which give them a huge lesson in their life. An effective leader will invest their time for implement vision and use development study from their past action to success with their future plan. According Luthans and Avolio, 2003 tells that “self-regulated behaviors and self-awareness are believed to encourage optimal development of person leadership”. (Cited by McDermott, 2011). Moreover, early exposure of a mentor and adoption of early leadership character closely related with the progress of leadership behavior. As the company CEO of Air Asia Bhd, Tan Sri Tony most recognized corporate character in Malaysia. He starts his career in a music industry. Later he decides to leave the industry and go after his childhood idea of assemble low-cost airline. He faces so many turbulent in his life yet he didn’t give up. On 2014 he is rank as first the most admired corporate leaders in Malaysia. A life experiences do build up a great leader.

4.2 Power of Teamwork

On the other hand, a great leader made by a power of teamwork. Team are organize and driven around work to be done. Without having a team and strong teammate a leader cannot achieve a significant accomplishment. Leaders will focus on both working successfully with their existing member and will selecting good quality member in the team. A great leader will create an environment were the best solution and decision to be made by him/her. As Kouze and Posner wrote, “A leader that has developed with a simple word that detects wheatear someone is on the road to become a good leader”. (Henrikson, 2006). An example Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Yeoh Tion Lay is the creator of YTL Company. YTL Company is Malaysia’s top and biggest with business in land development and construction. In an interview he does mention that his leadership skill was established via a power of teamwork. He has team members that really work hard to develop the company. Teamwork also plays an important role in attributes of successful leader.

4.3 Leadership Development Program

Furthermore, leadership development program is an intensive educational program that able to transform managers into leaders, changing in the behavior and will be more alert. According, Allio R.J., (2005) “an effective leaders can develop by spend millions of money and times in leadership development program”. Advantages of leadership development program is, they outlined and efficient efforts to upgrade the quality of leadership inside every individual. Therefore, leadership development program have become popular for business and government organization. An example, in Malaysia a government organization will assign their effective workers to development programs the purpose to guide them to become better leaders. In the leadership program will polish certain skills, especially in public relation and built-up their self-motivation. The best leadership program will focus on building skills and knowledge in real life work setting.

4.4 Visionary and Highly Driven

An effective leader is generally recognized as visionary and highly driven person, capable of and get through what a business need. Based on Lyness and Judiesch, 2008 “directors who self-supported great work-life balance were classified higher in career improvement potential by peers and executive than those who believed lower work-life balance”. (Cited by Aoife et al, 2011). An individual of this statement is Tun Dr.Mahathir bin Mohammad was Malaysia’s fourth Prime Minister. He is longest-serving Prime Minister and also longest-serving leaders in Asia (1981-2003). Dr.Mahathir, his personality is multi-talented leaders of a great, insightful,great thinker and visionary outlook. There is some evidence that being assertive, risk-taking and being bold is advantageous for leaders. Leaders should good in analyze situation and figure out courses of action.

5.0 CONCLUSION

To conclude, in this essay various factor have been discussed related with leaders are born not made? Therefore, clear that leaders are both born and made. Born are likely to be more supportive of individual actions and more leader or authority focus, while made will be more supportive of influencing and other focused action. Everyone was meant to be a leader. But as long you are yourself and it’s your job to find and build those who want and can be. In this perspective all human being was born with those unique strength inside their self and they should recognized it and improved it in order to be a successful leader. ‘Practice make prefect’ who means a person must gain more and more practice more his or her leadership qualities will improve. This essay considers that leader progression as ongoing practice of their personal development.
